McCarthy Makes First Team Debut

Football Academy student and Margate U18’s player Jake McCarthy made his league debut for the senior team on the 7th January. Jake played the full 90 minutes against Brightlingsea, in a game which finished 3-3. After impressing within the academy set up, Jake was brought into the side and gave a confident display, so much so he even featured in the Kent Online Team of Week! Following this, Jake retained his place in the team to face Whitehawk at home, showing the trust the management team have in his ability.   

And Jake is not the only young player to feature in the team recently. Louie Procopi, from the academy and U18’s, played for the first team against Whitehawk after waiting patiently for his opportunity. Louie has been outstanding for the academy for this season and thoroughly deserved his chance.  Fellow academy/U18 players Freddie Marsh, George Adams and Rory Sutcliffe have also been involved, showing that the pathway is there for young players to progress through the ranks to senior football.
