Read Kent County Council's Guide to Applying for a Secondary School Place for 2027
Important dates
- 1st September 2026 - Online application process opens. Go to www.kent.gov.uk/secondaryadmissions to register and apply
- 2nd November 2026 - Online application process closes for the main round.
- 1st March 2027 - Offer of school places sent to parents via email after 4pm
- 15th March 2027 - Parents should contact the school to accept/refuse the place that has been offered
- 13th April 2027 - Appeals need to be lodged by this date to be heard before September.
- April to June 2027 - Admission Appeals held
Appeal For Year 7 Entry September 2027
If your child is due to start secondary school in September 2027, you must submit your appeal before 13th April 2027.
For late applications, appeals should be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged where reasonably possible in line with updated guidance from the Department for Education.

Connecting Our Community

Yesterday afternoon, our CASS Team undertook their long postponed sponsored walk from Herne Bay to Riverside Church - Whitstable.
Starting at Hampton Pier, our intrepid staff and students walked along the sea wall to Swalecliffe before heading inland to Riverside, where they finished after 53 minutes.

What a fantastic start to the year, kicking off with girls football on our brand new 3G pitch!
Our PE Department welcomed a variety of year groups to training on Monday after school, and will continue to do so across the next few terms.
Girls football will run on Mondays from 3:30-4.30pm and it would be lovely to see both some new and old faces.

We are delighted to welcome our new Principal Chris Simmons to Herne Bay High School and are excited about the year ahead.
At the heart of his vision for HBHS is a commitment to high expectations for every student, alongside the kindness, support and sense of community that are so important to our school.
Over the coming weeks, we are looking forward to welcoming parents and carers into school for our Meet the Principal evenings. These will be an opportunity to hear directly from our Principal about his vision and priorities for HBHS, as well as for him to meet and listen to our families.
We also want to strengthen communication between school and home. We will therefore be sharing a regular newsletter with parents and carers, keeping you updated on school life, developments and the many achievements of our students.

You will need to bring your PE kit and the appropriate Astro Shoes/Boots and Shin pads.
