Year 10 Mock Interviews with Employers
30 Apr

On Wednesday 29 April, Herne Bay High School was proud to welcome EBP Kent and a wonderful group of local professionals to support a mock interview event for our Year 10 students.

Students took part in individual, one‑to‑one interviews with volunteers from a range of local businesses and organisations. This invaluable experience was designed to help students build confidence, develop communication skills, and gain a real insight into what to expect in future job interviews.

Before the event, students attended a helpful session on interview skills, focusing on verbal communication, active listening, body language, and CV writing. These foundations meant students arrived well‑prepared and ready to challenge themselves. During the interviews, volunteers provided constructive and encouraging feedback, helping students recognise their strengths and identify areas for development. Many interviewers commented on how engaged and well‑prepared the students were - particularly impressive given that, for many, this was their first ever interview experience.

Mrs Wrigley, Mrs Santer and Mr Beeson were incredibly proud of how students approached the day. Even those who initially felt nervous demonstrated resilience, positivity, and ambition, rising to the challenge and representing themselves extremely well.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our industry volunteers for giving their time, expertise, and encouragement. Opportunities like this make a real difference in helping students feel confident about their futures, and we very much look forward to running the event again next year.
