Amey Cup Challenge 2022

On Tuesday 21st June, Mr Horton and Mrs Whiteley took six of our Year 8 and 9 girls to Canterbury Christ Church University to compete in the Amey Cup Challenge.

Their challenge was to design a structure to replace the collapsed Eastham Bridge in Worcestershire and then build a scale model of their proposed solution using KNex.

The girls had to consider costs, environmental impact and local disruption as part of their design before presenting their ideas to a panel of experts and facing their tough questioning. The recommendations from the panel had to then be worked into their design before it was presented again

The girls then had to present their amended design once again to the panel of experts, but this time, their peers from the other competing schools were also watching and allowed to ask questions and scrutinise the design.

After the second round of presentations, our team were thrilled to be declared winners and took home the coveted Amey engineering trophy. Well done girls, you are a credit to the school.
