Year 9 Employability Day

Back to Overview
Year 9 Employability Day
8 Feb

As part of the National Apprenticeship Week our Year 9 students took part in an employability day – For Me or Not for Me.

Students took part in a number of interactive workshops to enable them to demonstrate and develop employability skills.  The communications workshops saw students listen and talk to one another to build a tower that would hold a certain level of weights.  Whereas the Amey – Highways workshop had them thinking about equal opportunities and presenting their ideas in the style of a storyboard.

The Science and Environment workshop had students thinking about the plastic that is in our oceans and how we can help over come this issue.  Whereas the University of Creative Arts session had students to a customer brief, houses, rockets, and transport.

Many students had a positive attitude to their learning and we hope they feel better equipped to problem solve, listen and communicate, all the skills employers are seeking.
