Safeguarding during the School Holidays

Back to Overview
23 Jul

We take safeguarding very seriously at Herne Bay High, and the safeguarding and wellbeing of our students is paramount to everything we do. This doesn't stop just because it is the school holidays.

If you have any safeguarding concerns about a child during the holidays, these should be reported directly to Kent County Council (KCC) Children’s Services without delay.

How to Report a Concern:

  • If a child is at immediate risk of harm
Call 999 and ask for the police.
  • For all other safeguarding concerns:
Contact the Kent Front Door for Children’s Services:
    Phone (office hours): 03000 41 11 11
    Phone (out of hours): 03000 41 91 91
    Online referral: https://www.kscmp.org.uk/guidance/worried-about-a-child

Please ensure you provide as much detail as possible when making a referral, including the child’s name, date of birth (if known), your concerns, and any relevant context or evidence.

HBHS will also be actively monitoring e-mails and information that come into school over the next 6 weeks to ensure we have any information ahead of students returning in September. Therefore, please also feel free to contact us on dsl@hernebayhigh.org if you have any worries.
