Keeping you safe at Herne Bay High - A guide for students

Your safety is important to us. At HBHS, we make sure everyone feels safe and happy. Our teachers and support staff are always looking out for you.

  • Our Safeguarding Team: You may hear the word safeguarding used in school. It means that we have a responsibility to keep you safe and protected, both inside school and outside. We have a special team that’s like a safety net, ready to help anyone who might need it. They’re here to listen and take care of any worries you might have.

  • Who to talk to: If you’re feeling sad, scared, or just need someone to talk to, you can go to your mentor, year team, or any teacher you trust

  • You can also find one of our Safeguarding Team in the main office – they wear orange lanyards so you can easily see them!

  • Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs K Molloy available in the main school office or by email at dsl@hernebayhigh.org or by phone at 01227 361221 during normal school hours.

  • Learning to stay safe: We teach you about how to stay safe in and out of school. Try to remember what we have said as we want you to know how to always keep yourself safe.

Remember, if you ever feel like something is wrong or you just need to talk, you can always reach out to the people mentioned above. If you feel that you need to reach out when you are not in school, please e-mail concerns@hernebayhigh.org and we will respond as quickly as we can.

If you want to know more about how we keep everyone safe, you can see the full policy on the school’s website here: Safeguarding and eSafety - Key Information - Herne Bay High School
