The Government has introduced the 16 to 19 tuition fund which is a £96 million of one-off funding for the 2021 to 2022 academic year only. It is ring fenced funding for schools, colleges and all other 16 to 19 providers to mitigate the disruption to learning arising from coronavirus (COVID-19). Herne Bay High School will ensure the funding allocation is used in accordance with the purposes detailed in the guidance: 16 to 19 funding: 16 to 19 tuition fund - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
The funding will be used to support students whose learning has been disrupted due to the pandemic with a focus predominantly but not exclusively on GCSE Maths and English attainment. Learners who do not have Grade 5-9 in GCSE English and Maths at the end of KS4 can be supported by this fund. Students will be identified by Heads of Departments in line with the GCSE criteria in the guidance. Tuition delivery will be a maximum of 5 students at any one-time utilising qualified staff to help support their individual needs over and above the teaching timetable.
