Herne Bay High School are a Disability Confident Employer
Herne Bay High School Principal’s personal message to potential applicants I hope that my few words will help you to establish whether you should, or indeed shouldn’t, proceed with your application for one of the advertised positions. I should like to offer some background to the position, our school and our ethos and philosophy.I am immensely proud to be the Principal of Herne Bay High School, for it is a school that is both locally and nationally recognised as providing a varied, exciting and fulfilling experience for its students and most importantly it is a school where people are proud and happy to work and study. Operating as a Sports College and as part of a Teaching School Alliance, we have achieved an enviable reputation for the arts, for sport and for our passion and drive to provide a high quality learning experience built upon traditionalvalues. However, all of this hasn’t come easily as we have been on an incredible journey over the past few years. Twenty years ago the school was in real danger of being closed, it was unpopular and was struggling to achieve, it was tumbling down and lacked a sense of vision and dynamism. How things have changed! We are now oversubscribed in every year, we are a true community school with our doors open from very early in the morning to very late at night, we have incredible facilities and resources, we have a highly qualified and committed staff and a responsive and keen student body. Our successes, attitude and achievements have been publicly acknowledged in our OFSTED Inspections in May 2008, June 2011, March 2014 and February 2018 in which many areas of our work have been recognised as outstanding practice. However we are not complacent, and as such we have reflected at length as to where our successes stem from in order that we might further develop and progress. We believe that our success can be tracked back to our relentless pursuit of excellence in everything we do; our tangible belief in the fundamental importance of relationships and our focus on what we perceive to be ‘real’ education, education based on rigour and quality and the development of sound literacy and numeracy skills; education that isn’t about artificially inflating students’ grades through offering inappropriate and often ill conceived courses worth a multitude of GCSE grades. We believe that our success can, in part, be attributed to our drive to personalise the learning experience of our students, this has resulted in us establishing tailor-made routes for our students, routes that are developed to ensure that they enjoy a relevant, meaningful, achievable and fully supported educational experience. We are a high quality school, we have high quality staff, we have excellent facilities and most importantly we have funny, engaging, imaginative, creative, loyal, surprising, sometimes challenging and frustrating children who deserve the best. As such, if what I have said resonates with you and you feel that you would like to be part of what we are doing here and feel that you have the skills, drive, enthusiasm and commitment to be a key player in our continued development, please apply. |
