YR5/6 FOOTBALL COMPETITIONS

Many thanks to all the teams that attended the Yr5/6 Football Competitions last week at the Herne Bay Sports Hub. Our thanks go to all the referees that volunteered their refereeing services from Football Futures. Well done to all the teams that took part. Both the girls and mini-soccer tournaments were action packed with penalty shoot outs, a very high standard of football and some great sportsmanship. Well done to Briary who won the Girls competition and Herne Bay Juniors who won the mini-soccer tournament.

THE EDUCATION PEOPLE – PRIMARY PE SKILLS SESSIONS

Please see below regarding new courses on offer from The Education People for Primary PE leaders. These 90 minute workshops will offer resources and support from curriculum mapping and assessment to ensuring safe practise and everything needed to make PE provision outstanding.

This series of 5 workshops can be booked at the discounted rate of £170, or sessions can be booked individually.

Session 1 - Ready to Lead PE: Development Planning
SCH 21/942 - Monday 22nd November 4-5.30pm
Are you new to subject leadership? Wondering where to start? This workshop will provide a useful guide to evaluating your subject and identifying your priorities for development. Find out how to write effective development plans that are easy to monitor and evaluate for impact, so that your PE Premium Impact report is simple to produce at the end of the year.
Delegates should bring along their PE Development Plan or PE Premium spending plan if they have one.

Session 2 - Ready to Lead PE: Lesson Observations
SCH 22/174 - Monday 24th January 4-5.30pm
Lesson observations are an important part of subject monitoring, but what should you look out for and how do you manage observations of colleagues who are more experienced than yourself? In this workshop you will gain an understanding of how to link lesson observations to subject development, what to look for when you observe and the do’s and don’ts of observation etiquette.
Delegates should bring along their own school lesson observation template if they have one.

Session 3 - Ready to Lead PE: Assessment
SCH 22/175 - Monday 7th March 4 -5.30pm
Effective assessment systems are simple and quick, but still provide useful information on each child’s strengths and weaknesses. In this workshop you will find out how to build a detailed and holistic assessment profile for each pupil, with minimal work for teachers. You will leave with an understanding of key assessment principles and best practice, as well as a wealth of resources to help you embed effective assessment systems in your school.
Delegates should bring with them an example of any assessment materials they are currently using, if they have them.

Session 4 - Ready to Lead PE: Curriculum Mapping and Design
SCH 22/176 - Monday 9th May 4-5.30pm
How is your PE curriculum designed to meet the needs of all your pupils and how is it structured to ensure engagement and progression? In this workshop you will have the opportunity to explore these questions and consider some innovative approaches to curriculum design. You will also find out how curriculum mapping fits in and have an opportunity to review the curriculum map for your school.
Delegates should bring with them their current curriculum map if they have one.

Session 5 - Ready to Lead PE: Safe Practice
SCH 22/177 - Monday 4th July 4-5.30pm
Get to know your key responsibilities with regard to keeping children safe in PE and School Sport with this short workshop on safe practice. Find out about roles and responsibilities, risk assessment, essential documents and procedures and embedding the teaching of safety in your PE lessons. Bring all your safe practice questions for the Q&A session at the end.
