Year 8 Kent Cup Football Success

On Saturday our Year 8 boys football team played in the quarter-final of the Kent Cup for football, against last year’s runners up Sir Roger Manwood’s. In itself, reaching the quarter final is unprecedented for a coastal comprehensive school and as far as we are aware equals the best boys cup run for HBHS so the boys should be very proud of their efforts.

But we are delighted to say, that despite going 1-0 down early on, the boys went on to dominate the game and emerged 8-4 winners! A brace of 5 goals from Leo Dodds, 3 from Joe Mears, 4 assists from Jake McCarthy and a Man of the Match defensive performance from Toby Wilson all combined to one of the best, most fluent and confident displays they have had. They now face Bonus Pastor Catholic school from Bromley in the semi-final on 2nd February, making them one of the four best Year 8 football teams in the whole of Kent, a massive achievement.
