Primary Performing Arts Festival

The BTEC Level 3 Performing Arts Full Course Students from Herne Bay High School are back with a journey of a lifetime! Grape-vining your way through America; Jinga stepping through Brazil; Jigging your way through Ireland; Kicking your way through Japan; Rolling through Africa; Doing the Haka through New Zealand; Kathak your way through India. This journey of dance you shall be taken on is an exhilarating one!

They are putting together another adventurous festival with a combination of dance styles by local primary schools at the Bay Theatre on Tuesday 2nd April 2019. This year they have taken their inspiration from the theme ‘Around the World’, exploring 7 different countries.

Bringing the anticipation of adventure, variation of cultures and experience to life. The BTEC students will perfect and perform their own pieces to open and close the journey that you will be taken along on, which aims to introduce younger years to the performing arts.

They have been creating strong choreography which they have taught to seven local primary schools during workshops held at Herne Bay High School. The students have been responsible for the planning, delivering and leading workshops, which helped to facilitate and inspire them to develop this material for the final event.

The seven dynamic schools are Hernhill Church of England Primary School, Herne Church of England Infant School, Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed Church of England Junior School, Reculver Church of England Primary School, St Alphege Church of England Infant School, Briary Primary School and Herne Bay Junior School. Not only this but the penultimate event then has to be orchestrated and run by the student team, giving each student an insight into team leadership, planning and the organisation of a large-scale event.
