Dear Year 5 Parents
I would like to invite you to a presentation at Herne Bay High School on Tuesday 25th June where I will share my vision for how we can provide the education for your child in the coming years.
Success in an ever-changing world relies on an all-round education that develops the whole child. We believe in academic rigour in combination with providing amazing opportunities through the creative and performing arts, technology, sport and extended education as key to getting the best from every individual. We will enable your child to reach academic excellence, demonstrated by the progress our sixth form students are making, currently the 5th highest school in Kent, outperforming most schools in the area, including grammar schools. Last year alone over 60% of our students went on to university.
In January 2018, Ofsted again recognised us as a good school, with the wellbeing and support we give our students deemed as outstanding. My aim is for us to become outstanding in everything we do and it is a journey that I can truly say we are on the way to achieving. For September 2019 there are a number of changes that we are putting into place that should make Herne Bay High School your first choice, regardless of your child’s ability.
During my presentation I will talk about our bespoke Grammar route, our “Herons” accelerated classes, our support for SEND and our links and partnerships with other schools and the community and, I believe, open your eyes to why we should be the school of choice for you and your children. On the evening there will be staff to talk to about the secondary application process along with some of our current students who can share their journey and give you a first-hand insight into life at Herne Bay High School.
Please join me on Tuesday 25th June at 6.00pm in our Bay Theatre when I very much look forward to meeting you.
Mr J Boyes
