The Student Forum sits once per week in school and is made up of students from Year 7 to the 6th Form. The Forum is chaired by the Head Boy and Head Girl and is made up of elected members from the Mini Community Councils as well as co-opted members that apply for the positions. The Forum reports back to Mini Community Councils on a regular basis.
A range of school issues are discussed from bullying, uniform to charity events and fundraising. Members of the Student Forum represent the school in meetings with Dr Owen as well as in the community, attending consultations and presentations and meeting local district and County Councillors.
Many Forum members have been involved in the recruitment of new staff in school and in the local community. They recently helped to appoint the new Canterbury and Swale Area Youth Officer.
The Student Forum has worked hard to develop the Student Forum PRIDE awards. This has been successful in rewarding other students in school for ‘going the extra mile’ and ‘helping in the community’. Ten prize winners received certificates and an all expenses trip to Thorpe Park or equivalent in Argos Vouchers.
The Student Forum has a busy year ahead but the new members are lively and enthusiastic and will no doubt help the school progress through a very exciting time.
