East Kent Young Enterprise Competition Success

On Thursday 26th April Joe Turner and Alfie Meek, both Y10 students, competed in the finals of the East Kent Young Enterprise competition at The King's School in Canterbury.

The purpose of the event was to showcase their business enterprise, ‘Kids Party Central Enterprise’, which they had created and run since Christmas. They developed their entertainment business idea around delivering a children’s party offering a full DJ set up and characters Chase and Marshal (from ‘Paw Patrol’); Peppa Pig and Elsa (from ‘Frozen’).

At the competition, they had a stall where they had to talk to the judges for 15 minutes about their progress from the initial idea and all the ups and downs experienced when starting up a business. They then delivered a presentation in front of the other companies and judges about their business. All the other students were from Year 12.

Joe and Alfie were highly praised for their focus, knowledge of their target market and demonstrated exceptional communication, organisational and entrepreneurial skills. At the end of the evening, the team were rewarded with a highly deserved ‘Most Innovative Product’ award.
