Art Competition Success

A number of our art students have been shortlisted this year for their art entries to the 2018 Portfolio Art Competition, run by the Turner Contemporary Gallery. During the prize ceremony, hosted and held at Canterbury Christ Church University in May, it was announced that over 2000 entries from schools and further education establishments in Kent and Medway were shortlisted down to 111. Amongst the shortlisted students were Ashlyn Hack (KS3), Erin Wilson (KS5), Alex Sheppard (KS5) & Ellie Spriggs (KS5).

The art department is pleased to announce that Ashlyn Hack’s art entry won the KS3 category and Ellie Sprigg’s artwork was highly commended for the KS5 category.  This is an amazing achievement as the competition was very strong.  Both students work will go on exhibition at Turner Contemporary in Margate as part of their summer exhibition from June until September, where expected footfall to the gallery will be around 150,000.
This is an outstanding achievement indeed. The private view for the exhibition will be held on 14th June at the Turner Gallery, where students will have the opportunity to talk to gallery staff and art ambassadors and educators from around Kent about their work. This will be a fantastic opportunity to celebrate their achievements.

Shortlisted entries:

Ashlyn Hack - Winner of KS3 category

Erin Wilson
