Primary Performing Arts Festival

The human beans from Herne Bay High School are back with a bang! Putting together another splendiferous festival of combined dance and drama performances by local primary schools at the Bay Theatre on Thursday 22th March 2018. This year they have taken their inspiration from the wonderful works of Roald Dahl.

“A little magic can take you a long way.” - Roald Dahl

Bringing the magical range of Dahl's books to life the BTEC students will perfect and perform their own pieces to open and close the Scrumdiddlyumptious event which aims to introduce younger years to the arts. They have been creating whizzpopping choreography and gobblefunk dialogue, which they have taught to six local primary schools during workshops held here at Herne Bay High. The students have been responsible for the planning, delivering and leading workshops with help to facilitate and inspire them to develop this material for the final event.
The six gloriumptious schools taking part are; Hernhill C of E Primary, Herne Infants, Whitstable Endowed, Reculver C of E Primary, St Alphege C of E Infants, and Briary Primary. Not only this but the penultimate event then has to be orchestrated and run by the student team, giving each student an insight into team leadership, planning and the organisation of a large-scale event.

“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”- Roald Dahl.
“A life is made up of a great number of small incidents and a small number of great ones” - Roald Dahl
